dancersDancers Maire Grimes, Inai Luevano Palomera, and Jordyn Lugo have been selected as 2019 recipients of the AzDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award. It is a huge accomplishment to receive this prestigious award in Arizona. The application process is lengthy and hard work. The applicants are rated based on their artistic and technical merit in dance, leadership, and academics. To be eligible to apply for this honorable award, these three ladies had to be inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) at Apollo High School. Then, they were adjudicated through a self-choreographed solo video, two essay questions, transcripts, GPA, resume, and a teacher recommendation letter. The top scored dancers are then sent off to the National Dance Education Organization offices for the national adjudication. These three ladies are now in the running for the National Award.
