FROM THE DESK OF PRINCIPAL WHITE

It’s hard to believe the first quarter is already behind us! The good news is that the weather is finally cooling down, and we’re heading into one of the best times of the school year. This is also the perfect time to check your student’s grades and see how they’re doing at the midpoint of the semester. Before we know it, winter break will arrive, and final grades will be added to transcripts.
If you do not yet have access to your student’s grades, please contact the office to get set up with a ParentVUE and ParentSquare account. ParentVUE and ParentSquare is an important tool that allows you to see how your student is doing in class, track attendance, and help them stay accountable. It also strengthens communication between school and families so we can give our students the best experience possible. If your student is struggling, this is the time to set goals and make adjustments before grades are finalized. Remember, semester grades go directly on transcripts and can have a lasting impact—positive or negative—on your student’s high school career. Each step, from freshman year through senior year, adds up to the 22 credits they need in order to graduate successfully.
I also want to thank our families and students for making Homecoming Week such a memorable success. Student Council did an outstanding job leading and organizing all the events—from the festival to the parade, the football game, the dance, and everything in between. The spirit days, games, and energy during the week truly showcased what it means to be a Hawk.
As we move forward, I want to remind everyone that attendance is one of the biggest keys to success. When students miss class, their grades are often impacted. Attendance is more than a school expectation—it’s a life skill that prepares students for the future. Arriving to school and class on time makes a difference. We are also continuing to enforce state law regarding cell phones, which must remain put away during instructional time.
Looking ahead, October will fly by quickly. Enjoy your fall break—it’s well deserved! When we return, we’ll begin the second quarter.
Student Council is also planning a Trunk or Treat event on October 29 before our freshman final home football game. We’d love to see our families and community come out, as our clubs and Apollo students give back to our families and community.
In closing, please continue to check your student’s grades, encourage them to stay on top of attendance, and help them finish the fall sports season strong as we prepare for winter. I look forward to seeing you on campus throughout October as we enjoy this great fall weather together.
Choose excellence, and have a great day!
