IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL AMBROSE
Hello Apollo High School Community!
October is here and that means we are wrapping up the first quarter of the school year and heading into Fall Break. The time is sailing by, so I am grateful that I have this opportunity to reach out about a few things that will help enhance success for all students.
First, please remember that you and your student should be sitting down together regularly to discuss progress in their classes. Parents have access to grades and attendance through the ParentVue application. Make it a point to discuss grades with your student once each week. Be proactive with your student so that any unsatisfactory marks can be addressed right away.
Second, there are many opportunities for students to receive help when necessary. Teachers are available before and after school, the SOAR Center is open before and after school for tutoring, and there are counselors and administrators available to help as well. Your student should recognize when he/she needs assistance, encourage him/her to seek that help as soon as possible so they do not fall behind. Communication is key to success. Talk with your student and his/her teachers about opportunities to increase academic success.
Next, there is great motivation for students to be successful when they get involved in their high school experience. Winter sports are starting soon, and there are myriad clubs and activities for students to participate in here at Apollo High School. Being part of something outside of the academic classroom produces friendships and develops leadership skills for everyone involved. Students involved in extracurricular activities are monitored and motivated to achieve at higher levels in school, so have your student get involved and make those memories they will cherish long after they receive their diploma.
Finally, take note that there is still time in the semester to excel. Whether in the classroom, or in extracurricular activities, there is time to be involved and to be highly successful in whatever your student is doing. Help you student get the most out of what it means to be a proud Apollo Hawk!
Sincerely,
Rob Ambrose
