Math 1-4 & Math 5-6

Instructor:    Mrs. Stasia Hubbell

Office Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday = 7:15 am - 7:55am

            Wed. (learning center) = 8:30am – 9:20 am

                                    After school office hours by appointment

Required Materials:   Three ring binder or two pocket folder, paper, pencils, highlighter, an alert brain, and a SMILE  J !!

Unit Notes will be collected at the end of each unit.

Homework/Notes:Each homework assignment is worth Ten (10) Points.

Homework must be complete according to the following

criteria to take Test B of any Unit

·    Properly labeled: (top right hand corner) 

Name, Date, and assignment

·    Complete in pencil

·    Work in two or three vertical columns (depending on neatness).

·     SHOW all work for full credit.

ü          IF all questions checked are correct, full credit will be recorded for the assignment (10 points). 

ü          IF one or more questions checked are incorrect, partial credit will be recorded (5 points). 

ü          IF more than half of the problems checked are incorrect, no credit will be given (0 points)

ü          IF you receive partial or no credit for a homework assignment, you can fix the problems that you missed and turn the assignment back in to try for full credit.

·   Highlight or box all answers

·   ALL assignments are due by Test A day of the Unit.

Class work/quizzes:    Class work will be completed as a group and will be recorded in the homework and notes category.

Testing Requirements: In order for a student to be eligible to take a unit test, that student must have received credit for completing an assignment(s) given prior to test day.

Ø       For each unit there are a total of TWO test opportunities given in class. 

Ø       Test Day #1:  Class time to work on Unit review worksheet

Ø       Test Day #2:  EVERYONE will take Unit test A in class.  (If absent, this test must be taken before school the following morning.)  The Unit Review worksheet is due at the beginning of the hour for test bonus points.

Ø      Test Day #3:  Class time to work on Test A corrections (corrections must be complete for Test A scores to count), Unit Review B worksheet and Unit homework (must receive full or half credit for all homework, Test A corrections and Unit Review B worksheet for Test B scores to count).  Unit Review B is due at the beginning of the next class.   

Ø      Test Day #4:  Unit corrective worksheet and all unit homework must be completed to take Unit test B. Unit notes are also due today. 

Ø     If absent on test/retest day, that test can ONLY be taken the next day before school without the loss of that test opportunity.

Ø     Tests are not allowed to leave the classroom.  If a test is taken, it will result in an automatic zero (0) for that UNIT.

 Grading:   Quizzes will be given without prior notice!        

                            Must receive full/half credit for homework by Test Day #2                                         Unit Notes will be collected on Test Day #4

                             Tests will be given at the end of each unit!

                             Classroom folders will be checked at the end of semester!

                    QUARTER GRADE: 80% Unit test -- 20% quizzes,                                                                          notebooks,  classwork & homework

              SEMESTER GRADE: 80% quarter grade -- 20% Final                                                                                                             Exam

                                   

                                    ---Grades are based on the following scale

                                                90 – 100 = A = 1

                                                80 – 89   = B = 2

                                                70 – 79   = C = 3

                                                 0 – 69    = F  = 5

                                                Incomplete     = 7

Sweep:  NEVER get swept.  If you happen to get swept, you must turn in any work due that day after school or before school the following morning to receive credit.  NO EXCEPTIONS!    

     

Classroom rules:  Every person treats every other person in class with respect.  Student behavior must be conducive to a positive learning

  environment and not infringe on the rights or needs of others.

o       No food or drink (except water) allowed in class

o       Stay in seat until the bell at the end of the hour

o       School ID required to access graphing calculators in class and before or after school.

o       Use of classroom phone is EMERGENCY only (before or after class)

o       If your phone or beeper “sounds” during class I WILL KEEP IT !! You can receive your one hour detention from me and your phone or beeper at the end of the week from the Attendance office

o       if absent—you are personally responsible for completing any class work assignments, quizzes, or tests missed

Helpful Hints:  Always come prepared for class

Þ    Get help when you need it

Þ    Ask questions

Þ    Be Responsible and cooperative

Þ    Complete ALL homework

Þ    Take advantage of ALL retest opportunities

Þ    Do not miss test days

Þ    Practice good classroom manners

Þ    Pick a star in the sky and never stop reaching for it!
