Objectives
- Create video announcements to promote media center and its resources.
- Use digital cameras and camcorders.
- Resize and crop photos using Adobe Photoshop.
- Edit video using Movie Maker
Lesson 1: Going Digital
Read the article and complete the worksheet for this lesson.
Assignment:
- Practice using a digital camcorder. Record approximately three minutes of video.
- Import the video to the computer using the firewire on the multimedia computer.
- Complete a critique of your work and make recommendations to improve quality of video.
Lesson 2: Movie Maker
Complete the MovieMaker tutorial. Take notes as needed on the worksheet for this unit.
Assignment:
- Use your video from Lesson 1. Use the directions from the tutorial to import the video.
- Edit the clip, add text, add transitions and include music. Use the second article for directions on specific topics. Have fun and experiment with MovieMaker.
- Save project as movie file and email me the assignment.
- Complete student reflection.
Lesson 3: Digital Camera
Read tips of using a digital camera and learn essential vocabulary.
Assignment:
- Take five pictures using the digital camera.
- Import pictures to the computer and review what you learned from the articles.
- Complete student reflection.
Lesson 4: Resizing & Cropping
Review tutorial on how to resize and crop photos using Adobe Photoshop.
Assignment:
- Use pictures from previous assignment and edit using Adobe Photoshop.
- Experiment with Photoshop and try adding text, using filters, etc..
- Save edited photos and email me three photos.
- Complete student reflection.
Lesson 5: Using the Scanner
Ms. Reyes will demonstrate how to use the scanner and where to save the scans.
Assignment:
- Scan three pictures/documents.
- Email or use a flash drive to save the scans to your student folder.
Unit 3 Assessment Project: The Media Center
Students will make a short video highlighting the Media Center using images from digital camcorder, digital camera and scanner.
The video must contain the following information:
- Hour of operation
- Checkout policy
- Renewal policy
- Resources available in the media center
Students will be graded on: (See rubric on Unit 3 packet)
- Correct information regarding the media center
- Images are clear and appropriate to topic
- Sound is audible
- Movie has a title
- Transitions are used
- Movie has an overall theme and is organized
