Course Description:
Culinary Arts will expand on the concepts learned in Introduction to Culinary Arts as well as introduce new topics. Students will be trained for career opportunities in the food service/culinary arts industry. Students will have the opportunity to learn and practice safety and sanitation procedures, and use and maintain commercial food service equipment. They will perform food preparation techniques as it relates to catering, bakery, restaurant, hospitality, and other food service operations.

Grading Scale:
90 - 100% = 1
80 - 89% = 2
70 - 79% = 3
60 - 69% = 4
59 – 0% = 5

Lab/Participation = 45%

Expectations of Students:
Along with learning the course curriculum, it is expected that the students understand the professionalism of the culinary arts industry. I expect each student will actively participate in the labs, catering events and in daily classroom activities/assignments/discussions. You will also be expected to work with a variety of different students, be respectful to your peers and abide by the rules of the classroom and the school at all times.
MAKE UP POLICY:
FOR LABS:
If you are absent on the day that we are cooking, you have one week to make it up at school. You can make arrangements with me to come in before or after school or during Learning Center. If you do not make it up at school within that week, you will have an additional week to make it at home and bring in a serving.
ASSIGNMENTS/TESTS/QUIZZES:
You will have two (2) weeks to make up any missed quizzes, tests or assignments. There is no make up for bellwork not turned in.

Please take these rules home and review them with your parents/guardians. After reviewing the Rules of the Classroom, please sign the bottom, and turn it in. This will in effect serve as your contract with the teacher for the class that you understand these Rules and Expectations.
