Senior Chief Petty Office George T. Zuckerman
Senior Chief Petty Officer George T. Zuckerman was born in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He attended the College of New Jersey and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
He enlisted in the United States Navy on 27 April 1982 and completed Basic Training and Hospital Corps School at Great Lakes, Illinois . He attended the following service schools, Pharmacy Technician School, Naval School of Health Science, Portsmouth, Virginia; Field Medical Service School, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California; and Advanced Medical Administrative School , Naval School of Medical and Dental Assisting, San Diego, California . While on active duty he completed a Masters Degree in Public Administration from John F. Kennedy University, Orinda, California .
Senior Chief Zuckerman's 21 years of military service included the USS Midway (CV-41), Yokosuka, Japan; two tours at Naval Hospital Oakland, Oakland, California; USS Truxtun (CGN-35), Bremerton, Washington; two tours with 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, California; Naval Special Warfare Command, San Diego, California; and Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Yuma, Arizona. During his last operational tour, he served as Medical Planner for over 2300 Marines and Sailors of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit. He conducted work-ups and the subsequent 7 month Western Pacific/Persian Gulf deployment which included combat operations in Southern Iraq, Operations in the Horn of Africa, and the Northern Arabic Gulf.
His military awards include, Senior Sailor of the Year for Naval Hospital Oakland and Commander Naval Base San Francisco and nominated for the Pacific Fleet Senior Sailor of the Year 1991; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 Awards); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 Awards); Military Outstanding Service Medal; Qualified as Fleet Marine Force, Surface, and Aviation Warfare designations; Global War on Terrorism and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
Senior Chief Zuckerman is married to the former Judith Javier Martinez of San Fernando La Union, Philippines. He has three children, Edward, James, and Jason.
He retired from the U.S. Navy on 30 June 2005. He started teaching Naval Science at Apollo High School in August 2007 after one year of teaching NJROTC at Curtis Senior High School, University Place, Washington.
