Our Pennies for Patients Fundraiser is coming to an end.  We have 3 classes in the lead for most donations.  We have Ms. Knecht with $99.29, Ms. Richards $55.16 and Mr. McCarthy $32.45.  So get donating because Friday is the last day and the school needs to donate $750.00 to receive Olive Garden.  Thanks for participating.

FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS

 Are you interested in playing sports during the summer or next school year? Do you want to get your physical done for FREE?  You’re in luck! On Saturday, April 1, 2017 we will have our annual Free Sports Physicals at Sunnyslope. The bus leaves at 7:30AM so make sure you get here bright and early! While you are completing your physical at Sunnyslope, your parents will be in the Apollo Media Center completing the registration process for Register My Athlete, our new online program for athletic paperwork. Dance Show

"Come to the Annual District Dance Show at Greenway High School this Friday, March 31st to support our amazing Apollo Dancers. There are 2 shows:  5pm and 7:30pm.  Tickets go on sale at 4pm for the 1st show and 6:30pm for the 2nd show at Greenway, and tickets are $5. Our performance company will be performing our award-winning dance, so we hope you can make it out to see a wonderful night of dance!"

 

Physical & Swimming

April 1st, Saturday:  Free Athletic Physicals at Sunnyslope.  The buses leave Apollo at 7:45am to arrive at Sunnyslope for the physicals, which will be beginning at 8:15am.  These physicals are good for next school year. Physicals are required before you can participate in summer swim and the regular swim season. The physicals are open to any current Apollo student and any incoming freshman. See Coach Nabor or the athletic secretary in the front office to pick-up the paperwork.

 

Drivers Ed

The fourth Dr. Ed. session will began this Saturday, April 1. The class will be from 8:00 a.m. to noon and will meet in Room 704 in Building 7.  Bring a pencil or pen to write with. Be on time and get rested up for a long session.  Also, be aware students can start registering for the final session of this school year. May 30, 31 and June 1 from 8:00 a.m. to noon each day. Afterwards the behind - the wheel instruction will begin.

Hey Hawks! Students be sure to visit the office and Redeem your Hawk Bucks!  We have 10 tickets to the Spring Choir concert next Tuesday March 14th at 7pm.  You may redeem two hawk bucks for 1 ticket to the concert.  These tickets won’t last long so get to the office as soon as "studently" possible!

 

Scholarships

Seniors, do you have a 2.5 gpa or higher?  Do you need money for college? Also, there are two scholarships for music band and vocal ensemble students or cheer leaders or stucco members.

Dance Company

Big congratulations goes out to our AHS Performance Dance Company!  They performed at the Annual High School State Dance Festival a week ago, and they received the highest rating of Distinction in choreography, performance and technique!  We are all so proud of these talented young ladies.  If you see a Performance Dancer today, make sure you congratulate them on their wonderful achievement.

The next Driver Education session will be on April 1. You can register for the class at the Moon Valley bookstore and the cost is $210. It can be paid by your parent’s school tax credit for 2017. A copy of your permit or driver license is required to register.  Sorry to announce that the April session will be limited to 16 students. Presently there are 12 already registered with only 4 openings left. The reason we are limiting this session is due to Mr. Bracciali having to go in to have spinal surgery this week and will be unavailable to help. The only session left this school year will be the summer session from May 30 to June 1. You can register for this session if you missed the cutoff for April 1.  Mr. Tualla will call some of the April session to start doing the behind the wheel in March before class starts as he will be gone for 2 1/2 weeks to China and will drive the rest in May.

  • On February 12, 2009, the NAACP marked its 100th anniversary. Spurred by growing racial violence in the early twentieth century, and particularly by race riots in Springfield Illinois in 1908, a group of African American leaders joined together to form a new permanent civil rights organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Apollo Alumi Dan Beauchamp Will be in the auditorium to talk about his time as the vice consul to the US consulate in Tijuana. Your 2017 school tax credit can be used to pay for the class. The spring Dr. Ed. session will be on April 1. It is recommended that students get some driving time with parents before starting the behind the wheel portion after the classroom session. The cost is still $ 210 that can be paid through your parent's tax credit for 2017. Registration is at Moon Valley High School and you will need to show your driver license or permit to register for the class. Call Kara Martin at the Moon Valley bookstore if you want to register by mail. Enjoy your winter break and make sure your parents take you for some driving practice on your turns and steering.
