Student Council Constitution
Preamble
We, the students of Apollo High School, being equal to one another, do hereby join together and ordain this constitution in order to show and promote fairness, loyalty, democracy, and school pride.
Mission Statement, Vision, Motto
1. Apollo’s mission is to empower all students for the choices and challenges of the 21st century.
2. Apollo’s vision is that all students will graduate empowered for a lifetime of success.
3. Apollo’s motto is PRIDE, CLASS, AND DIGNITY
4. The Student Council mission is to increase the 6 pillars of character within our school community: Respect, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Fairness, Citizenship, and Caring.
Article I: Elections
Section I: Election Committees
The Student Body President will chair the Student Body Elections Committee. Freshman elections can be chaired by any Student Council Officer, but preferably by the student body president.
Section II: Disqualifications
The Advisor and the Apollo Administration reserve the right to disqualify any candidate if they determine that the candidate has abused campaign rules.
Section III: Election Results Public
All voting records are considered public knowledge and will be available for viewing to anyone who wishes to view them at the discretion of all candidates. The viewing must be done with administrator or student council advisor supervision.
Section IV: Election Meeting
Prior to elections and delegate selections, a parent meeting is required for all candidates who have not been in Apollo Student Council and is suggested for all students who are not in student council the year they are campaigning for office. The meeting is with the Student Council Advisor and chairmen of the elections committee on a specified date. Although not required, the meeting is open to all parents, even if the student is currently in student council. Students new to Apollo Student Council must attend this meeting as well.
Section V: Student Body Election Qualifications
1. All Student Body Candidates with the exception of the Historian, must have served in Apollo Student Council for at least one year. Preferably, all student body delegates should have served for one year as well. (Candidates who have served partial terms are eligible for candidacy ONLY at the discretion of the Advisor). In addition, students who have been dropped from student council cannot run for office unless the advisor and administration approve the exception.
2. The Student Body President must be a senior. The Vice President can be a junior or a senior.
3. Students must complete at least 8 hours of training with the student council advisor prior to taking office in the fall (usually completed over the summer).
4. Each candidate must pass all spring semester classes by the first day of fall semester unless special permission is received from the student council advisor and/or the principal of Apollo.
5. All candidates must take Leadership Communication Class their 4th hour both semesters.
6. Candidates must attend all pre-election meetings and meet all deadlines unless otherwise specified or arranged with the Advisor. The advisor should be present at all election meetings.
7. All election paperwork must be turned in directly to the student council advisor or if turned in to the chair of the committee, a receipt maybe requested by the candidate documenting that they turned in their paperwork.
8. All candidates must have two teacher recommendations to be considered for the position. One of these recommendations needs to be from an academic teacher.
9. A petition must be completed and signed by 250 students, consisting of Juniors, Sophomores and Freshman. A student may only sign a petition once.
10. Every candidate must prepare a speech to be played on the announcements or specified location during campaign week.
a. The speech must be approved by the student council advisor or Vice Principal of Operations and Resources prior to when it is to be given (must report any changes to the
Advisor prior to delivering the speech).
b. The candidate is allowed no more than 30 seconds to present his/her speech, depending on the number of offices. Students may campaign together and combine their speeches.
c. Speeches must not contain any slander or other mention of other opposing candidates for any office (exception: candidates running as a team may mention each other).
11. Write in candidates will NOT be permitted and will not be provided for on the ballot.
12. Students may only run for one office at a time.
Section VI: Class election qualifications
1. All Students are eligible for candidacy, regardless of past experience; however the candidate elected for JUNIOR class president must complete certain training hours with either the student council advisor or the junior class advisor prior to the new school year in order to prepare for prom planning in the summer. One year of experience is preferred for junior class president. Also it is suggested that the incoming president meet with the former junior class president or other experienced member of the junior class recommended by the advisor. Candidates that do not have one year of experience must have the permission of the junior class sponsor and/or the student council advisor BEFORE they are able to run for office. Parent permission may be required as well. In addition, students who have been dropped from student council cannot run for office unless the advisor and administration approve the exception.

6. Candidates must complete a petition signed by 150 members of the class. A student may only sign a petition once. Candidates are responsible for double checking their petitions to ensure that all signatures are obtained and all signatures are correct.

Article II: Delegate Selections
Section I: Qualifications
1. Class delegates are open to anyone. There are three delegates for every class and three for student body. Exceptions can be made by the student council advisor and/or the principal of Apollo.
2. All delegates must have two teacher recommendations to be considered for the position. One of these recommendations needs to be from an academic teacher.
3. All delegates must attend any pre-interview meetings and turn in all paperwork. Student Body Delegate positions are open to any class, although preference should be given to upperclassmen, especially juniors for prom.
Section II: Interviews
1. Interviewing for delegate positions takes place after elections.
2. Current Executive Council will conduct the interviews with the Student Council Advisor or other GUHSD teacher/administrator present for freshmen, class and student body elections. In case of emergency, the Student Council Advisor and/or Student Body President will assemble a new interviewing panel.
3. Interviews are conducted on a point system. The candidates in each class who receive the most points will be slotted into the 15 delegate slots.
a. This point system will be explained at the delegate meeting.
b. Minimum point value must be achieved for a candidate to be considered.
Article III: Special Elections and Special Delegate Selections
1. The same rules that apply to regular Elections and Delegate Selections will be applied to Special Elections and Special Delegate Selections with noted exceptions.
2. Special Elections and Special Delegate Selections may only be completed during freshman elections.
3. A Special Election may be held if any elected office position becomes vacant or is expected to become vacant before freshman elections. If the office becomes vacant after this time, then the vacancy will be filled from within student council.
Article IV: ELL Students
1. No student enrolled in the ELL program shall be excluded from running in any general election.
2. Two students enrolled in the ELL program may be selected as a delegate for the Student Council Class. Each candidate running for this delegate position must have a teacher recommendation in order to be eligible for candidacy. The same rules and order pertain to the ELL delegates as do the rest of the Student Council.
3. The Public Relations Officer is the liaison for Ell students and the special needs students.
Article V: Campaign Rules
Section I: Materials
1. Any campaign materials must be approved by the Advisor and/or Apollo Administration before they are used to campaign any time during campaign week. The APOR ( or other Assistant Principal if necessary) must sign anything posted on campus.
2. Any changes/additions made to campaign materials must also be reported to the Advisor.
3. Any materials not approved will be immediately removed and the candidate will be subject to sanctions or disqualification after review by the advisor.
4. A maximum of seven posters per candidate may be hung around campus at any time in designated areas only. Students campaigning together may create a total of five posters each. They must both campaign on all ten posters.
5. Posters are to be no larger than two feet high by three feet long or standard size school posterboard. Candidates may produce 1 banner not larger than 10 feet by 3 feet and must have location approval from advisor or Vice Principal of Operations and Resources.
6. A maximum of 50 fliers per candidate may be hung around campus at any time and are to be no larger than an 8X11 piece of paper; however, only one flier per bulletin board is allowed. If students are campaigning together, 50 fliers are allowed. Any advertisement in a teacher’s classroom will be counted as 1 flier.
7. If a flier is cut down below the normal 8X11 size, these will be counted as separate fliers and serve as one of the fifty permitted unless they qualify under #9.
8. Fliers are not counted as posters.
9. Necklaces/Buttons/Pins/Labels/Stickers/Bag or Neck Ties may be handed out at the discretion of the advisor. Other items must be decided on by student council and/or the Advisor.
10. All campaigning materials must be hand made or produced on a personal computer. No professional printing is permitted; however, Xeroxing is allowed. No food shall be distributed.
11. Materials that have fallen down, have been torn down or thrown away, or have been defaced may be replaced with the approval of Apollo administration or the Advisor.
Section II: Sportsmanship
1. Candidates will be disqualified if they use slurs against other candidates to promote themselves.
2. Any candidate found to be defacing another candidate’s materials, defaming another candidate’s character, or violating of campaign rules will face disqualification upon review by the Advisor.
Article VI: Committee Structure
1. There will be one Chairman and one Co-Chairman for every committee.
2. All members should be on only one committee at any time with the exception of special committees. Immediately following the conclusion of the committee, all committee members must be reassigned to another committee.
3. Once a committee is ended, all members must complete a committee evaluation within 5 school days of the conclusion of the committee the member was on. Each member of the Student Council class must complete an evaluation of the event’s committee (pertaining to the strengths and suggestions).
4. Committees meet Monday with the Assistant Principal of Operations and Resources.
5. The chair or co-chair goes to the closest executive council meeting to inform executive council about the committee.
Article VII: Chairman Selection
Section I: Timeline
1. All committees will begin on a date decided by the Student Body President and Advisor.
Section II: Selection Process for Committee Chair:
1. The Student Body President will introduce the committee and call for volunteers for Chair.
2. Volunteers will fill out an application to be Chair
3. Executive Council meets and decides on Chair and Co-Chair in the following manner:
a. The application will be read by a majority of Executive Council Members
b. Prior knowledge of the applicant will be discussed
c. The applicant will be ranked by the following categories on a number scale of 0-1-3-5 with 5 being the highest.
d. The six categories are:
i. Experience in student council
ii. Experience on that committee
iii. Organizational skills
iv. Work Ethic
v. Six pillars of character
vi. Attitude
e. The highest score receives the spot (minimum score is required).
Section III: Chair Duties
1. On the first week of the committee, the Chair must sign and submit to the Advisor, the Chair Contract to promote dedication to the committee. They must also submit a roster naming all committee members. They must also prepare a budget and make sure the Co-Chair fills out a press release. They must create a committee calendar with the Student Council Advisor.
2. Upon the completion of a committee, each Chair must submit and present an evaluation of his or her committee during class. They must also submit an updated notebook for the committee within five school days as well unless the committee is extra burdensome and an extension is approved by the Advisor.
3. Chairs must have a to-do list every committee day for their committee members. To-do lists must be completed and given to the secretary prior to the beginning of agenda.
4. Chairs must keep the principal’s secretary informed of all committee dates/events/requirements.
5. Chairs have the duty of discussing members of the committee who are failing to do their jobs with the Co-Chair of that committee to evaluate their progress.
6. The Chair will warn any students that have a poor work ethic BEFORE the Co-Chair turns in a probation request to Executive Council.
7. The Chair may NOT miss 3 or more days of the committee or he/she will be removed as Chair and the Co-Chair should replace him/her.
Section IV: Selection Process for Co-Chair
The selection process will be the same as selecting a Committee Chair.
1. The Co-Chair has the duty of taking over the committee upon the absence of the Chair.
2. **The Co-Chair will fill out probation requests for his/her committee upon direction from the Chair to be dealt with by Executive Council.
3. Co-Chairs must submit a press release to the public relations officer within one week of the close of a committee.
Article VIII: Expectations for Student Council Members
Section I: Authority
All rules and regulations stated in the Apollo High Student Council Syllabus must be strictly adhered to as well as those outlined in the student handbook. Dress code will be strictly enforced. If a student council member is dress coded two or more times, they are to be put on probation for a length determined by Executive Council and the Advisor.
Section II: Requirements
1. A 3-ring binder containing the sections/dividers that the Student Council Advisor specifies must be maintained throughout the school year. There will be a random notebook check as well as scheduled notebook checks in order to make sure this is being adhered to.
2. All Student Council members must attend a school board meeting in the first semester of the school year. Additionally, all Student Council members must attend a City Council meeting in the second semester of the school year. Failure to attend may result in disciplinary action. Attendance to planned Student Council events are mandatory unless otherwise excused prior to the event by the Student Council Advisor. Work is not an excuse unless pre-approved by the Student Council Advisor. Having a family event is not excused unless it is prescheduled at the beginning of the year when you get your calendar, or if there is an extreme emergency or illness. Babysitting family is not excused. Providing rides for others is not excused.
3. Student Council members must put up and/or take down any assigned marquee messages.
4. Student Council members are expected to complete 5 hours of community service per quarter. In addition, students should participate in one class service activity per quarter.
Section III: Academic Standards
1. At the end of each semester, the advisor must review grades of every member for each class in which they are enrolled, including leadership communications. No current failing grades are acceptable, and will be dealt with at the discretion of the Advisor. Unless there is an extreme circumstance, students will be dropped if they have an “F” in any class. Student Council is not to be used as an excuse to fail. Summer school is allowed to bring up spring grades. (Grades are not checked by the Advisor until after summer school). An “F” for these purposes is defined as any student earning below a 60% in a class.
2. Earning an Unsatisfactory (U) grade in citizenship in student council is not acceptable and will also be dealt with at the discretion of the advisor.
3. Earning anything less than a “B” in student council at the completion of each semester is cause to drop the student from student council at quarter. Such students can be put on probation.
4. The Student Council Advisor will administer a test over basic knowledge for a Student Council member in all four quarters of the school year. A grade of a “B” must be achieved on all 4 tests. If a “B” is not achieved learning centers are to be assigned until the student achieves a “B”.
Article IX: Agenda Rules and Order
Section I: Agenda Times
1. The Student Body President will run the Agenda every weekday unless specified by the Student Council Advisor. The Student Body Vice President will run the Agenda in case of the Student Body President’s absence. In the event that the Student Body President and Vice President are absent to run the Agenda, refer to the Rank/Succession of the Student Council listed in the Constitution. This Rank/Succession only pertains to Agenda order, not vacancy.
2. The Agenda will be limited to 20 minutes every Wednesday and Friday. Monday will be up to thirty minutes to include calendar time. Tuesday and Thursday agenda times will be limited to ten minutes. The Agenda will start when the president calls the official start time. A motion can be made to extend agenda under extenuating circumstances. The Secretary will keep time.
Section II: Agenda Procedure:
1. When the final bell rings, the Student Council must be seated, and quiet. Only the President and Vice President will be able to conduct conversation in order to run the Agenda. For a second infraction, the student will have a choice to pay either a quarter or take a detention after school. The Student Body Secretary will record the detentions to make sure they are served. There is a .75 cent maximum on infractions in one day. After the money is paid and there are further infractions, the student will be assigned detention and possibly referred to the Dean of Students for further consequences.
2. Anyone who is tardy, found using their phone or text messaging, listening to cd/ipod/mp3, etc, will have ten points taken off their committee grade. The phone will be taken away and a detention will be assigned where a student is to watch a required video. All cell phones are banned during school hours.
3. Debate will be limited to the discretion of the Student Body President or Student Council Advisor and can be cut off anytime he/she feels necessary. If an issue has been raised that produces concern among the Student Council, six people will be allowed to speak (according to Parliamentary Procedure preferably 3 pros and 3 cons) once addressed by the Student Body President. Additional debate will be up to the discretion of the Student Body President or Advisor.
4. Any student found breaking these rules will be subject to first a warning, and then discipline.
5. When the meeting is adjourned, all students must IMMEDIATELY go to their specified chairman and receive their to-do list. Attendance will be taken daily. Committee points will be awarded for attendance on committee days.
6. No personal business or business directed at only a small portion of the class shall be conducted during Agenda (exception: singing “Happy Birthday” to a student on their birthday). The message board is to be utilized for this purpose.
7. No one is to leave their assigned seat without permission during Agenda. If a student gets up without permission during agenda, they will receive discipline. The president will refrain from calling agenda to order until reasonable time is given to spirit week members or ticket sellers so they do not receive a detention. If a member is late a detention will be issued.
8. The Vice President is responsible for assigning detentions and the secretary will record them. The President and Vice President can receive a detention for speaking out of turn on unrelated issues.

In the case where the SB Secretary is absent or is conducting agenda, the class secretaries in rank succession should take notes during agenda. ****
Article XI: Student Body Officers: Specific Duties
Section I: Student Body President
1. The Student Body President will preside over the entire Student Council during Agenda and when the Student Body meets and will also run the Agenda (refer to Agenda Rules and Order) and the Student Body meetings. The President can give the Vice President a detention for speaking out of turn on an unrelated issue.
2. The Student Body President must have reasonable knowledge about the functions happening within or concerning the Student Council and oversee all committees.
3. Along with the Student Body Treasurer, the Student Body President will assist with the fundraising for the Student Body Account and the Student Council Trip.
4. The Student Body President could be asked to serve on the AHS Planning Team.
5. With the other Student Body Presidents in the district, the Student Body President will attend luncheons as called by the Superintendent. The Student Body President will also oversee or be aware of preparing functions that involve the entire Student Council. These functions include:
-Principal's Breakfast
- District Convention
- State Convention
- Student Council Spring Trip
Section II: Student Body Vice-President
1. The Student Body Vice-President must assist the Student Body President while running the Agenda and during Student Body meetings. The Student Body Vice President will keep order in the class and will strictly adhere to the rules outlined in this Constitution in order to keep the class and Agenda running orderly.
2. The Student Body Vice-President must also have reasonable knowledge of the activities that are happening within or that concern Student Council.
3. In the case that the Student Body President is absent, the Student Body Vice-President must be able take over the Student Body President’s duties during the period of absence.
4. The Student Body Vice President will also assist the President with Principal’s Breakfast and Planning Team.
5. The Student Body Vice President will interpret this Constitution (along with guidance from the Advisor and Executive Council) and apply it to the Student Council Class.
6. They will stand at the door after agenda to sign out anyone leaving the room.
Section III: Student Body Treasurer:
1. The Student Body Treasurer will be in charge of keeping track of the money withdrawn and deposited into the Student Body account.
2. They will present a quarterly budget to the class.
3. The Student Body Treasurer must receive a receipt for all transactions made within this account within two school days of the purchase.
4. The Student Body Treasurer must also, with the Student Body President and Junior Class Delegates, prepare fundraising events for the Student Body account.
5. A ledger of all transactions must be kept for each week in a notebook along with all pink copies of requisitions and deposits.
6. The Treasurer will give a full report to student council each week.
Section IV: Student Body Recording Secretary
1. The Student Body Recording Secretary is to be aware of all dialogue spoken during the agenda.
2. The Student Body Recording Secretary must make sure chairs have a sign-in sheet at each event to make note of who is present and will provide this to the Advisor.
3. The Student Body Recording Secretary will also take comprehensible notes of the important points made during agenda in order to assist any member of the Student Council who may need clarification if absence occurs. All this information will be kept in a notebook in the Student Body Recording Secretary’s mailbox. This notebook can also state who has marquee and which chairs turned in their to-do lists on time.
4. During the Agenda, the Secretary or appointed representative will read off any incoming mail that he or she deems relevant.
5. The Secretary will list in the Agenda notes, which Chairs turned in their to-do lists.
6. If the secretary is absent, the class secretaries will take over the notebook in order of succession.
Section V: Student Body Public Relations Officer
1. The Student Body Public Relations Officer will be in charge of the messages that are to be taken down and put up on the school’s Marquee. He or she will meet bi-weekly or as needed with the Assistant Principal of Operations and Resources to make sure the school master calendar contains a schedule of our sponsored events. He or she will also keep a notebook to keep track of Marquee.
2. The Student Body Public Relations Officer will also keep track of which Student Council members are to have marquee duty and are to keep the Student Council informed.
3. At the onset AND conclusion of an event, a press release or memo concerning the event will be submitted to the advisor.
4. Articles concerning Student Council must be submitted to the advisor to be submitted to Highlights Community Newsletter.
5. A report will be given to the Public Relations Office after the closing of every committee from the committee chair. This report must be handed out to the following people:
a. Journalism Advisor/Editor
b. Yearbook Advisor/Editor
c. Highlights representative
d. GUHSD Public Affairs Representative for district newsletter
6. The Public Relations Officer will help prepare announcements for Student Council by the media productions class. If they are not trained, they will take training during the first semester of school or will work with students currently enrolled in the class.
7. The Public Relations Officer is the liaison between ELL students and special needs students.
8. This officer will also work with the web designer to make sure student council’s webpage is updated.
Section VI: Student Body Historian:
1. The Student Body Historian will take photographs of all Student Council related events and assemble collages of pictures for the class. If the Historian is to be absent from an event, he/she must make sure someone else will be taking pictures.
2. The Student Body Historian will assist with the creation of the Student Council slide show at the end of the year banquet.
3. The Student Body Historian must keep samples from all tickets, programs, etc to put in the scrapbook.
4. The Student Body Historian must present their progress to the class once a quarter.
5. The Historian will provide pictures for the website page to the Vice President or President.
Section VII: Student Body Delegates
1. One or two Student Body Delegates will be in charge of monthly newsletters. He or she will get press releases from the advisor or public relations officer, write out the information and then turn to it in to the advisor. (Carissa)
2. One or more of these delegates will send out birthday cards to faculty monthly and will send cards to students as needed. (Sterling)
3. One or more delegates will coordinate one teambuilding activity per quarter as well as quarterly icebreakers.(Talia)
Section VIII: Executive Council
1. The Executive Council must pass an exam over the Apollo High School Constitution with a 3 or better before the conclusion of the executive council retreat.
2. Executive Council will meet at least twice a month, preferably the day before principal’s breakfast. During regular school months, they will meet every other Monday.
3. Executive Council may not miss more than 3 scheduled meetings per semester. If more are missed, the student may be removed from Executive Council at the discretion of the Advisor. The President will take attendance.
4. Executive Council will decide the Chairs and Co-Chairs of each event based on the procedure defined earlier.
5. Executive Council will consider all requests for probation with fairness and confidentiality.
6. If an executive council member is put on probation they can no longer be on executive council.
7. Executive Council will put on the special elections.
8. If a member of student council wishes to bring an issue to the class it can be given to the student council advisor for review and then if it has merit, will be discussed in executive council.
Article XII: Class Officers: Specific Duties
Section I: Class President
1. The Class President will preside over all required monthly class meetings.
2. The Class President will make sure the class sponsor is taking note of what goes on during the meeting.
3. The Class President will also have reasonable knowledge of all functions happening within their class or that pertain to their Class.
4. The Class President will plan any fundraising events with the Class Treasurer pertaining to their class and will turn in a list of fundraising activities to the Advisor quarterly.
5. The Class President must meet with their sponsor at least once a month (every two weeks for prom) to discuss any issues pertaining to their class.
6. The Senior Class must get a senior class gift and senior sweatshirts. The Junior Class is in charge of Prom.
7. The Class President will make sure that delegates are fulfilling their duties.
Section II: Class Vice President:
1. The Class Vice President will assist the Class President when the Class meets.
2. The Class Vice President must also have reasonable knowledge of the functions that pertain to their particular Class and must be able to take over the Class President’s duties in case of the Class President’s absence.
3. The Class Vice President must set up and attend any meetings with the class sponsor and the president.
4. The Vice President will create an agenda or list of pertinent issues to discuss at the meeting and give copies to the class sponsor quarterly.
Section III: Class Treasurer
1. The Class Treasurer must keep track of all transactions that occur within the class account.
2. With the Class President, the Class Treasurer will plan fundraisers for the Class.
3. The Class Treasurer will present a financial report once a month and will print an account summary every quarter for the Advisor for their notebook grade (further updates may be required by the Advisor).
4. The Class Treasurer must sign all requisitions pertaining to the particular Treasurer’s class.
5. The Class Treasurer MUST complete the clipboard for the account and keep it up to date. They MUST also keep the class sponsor up to date on the account.
Section IV: Class Secretary
1. The Class Secretary must keep track of the dialogue that occurs within the Class meeting.
2. The Secretary must take comprehensible notes for any Class Member assistance if an absence occurs.
3. The Class Secretary must maintain a notebook summarizing each class meeting, class events, and fundraisers. This will be turned in for officer points each quarter.
4. The Secretary will take photos at class events and submit them to the Student Body Historian.
Section V: Delegates
1. Senior Class Delegates are in charge of assisting the executive council delegate with teambuilding and quarterly icebreakers. One or more delegates will be in charge of calling chaperones to remind them of their duties. One or more delegates will be in charge of the school spirit banner that hangs in the student council room.
2. Junior Class Delegates are responsible for making sure there is at least one major class fundraiser each quarter. The delegates must keep track of how much money is spent on product and who has paid/not paid and provide this to the Advisor on a weekly basis.
3. Sophomore Class Delegates are responsible for community service. They must set up one class service project each semester. They must provide the class with ideas and opportunities for individual community service projects.
4. Freshman Class Delegates are responsible for making sure student council members attend Apollo sporting events. They must also prepare schedules for selling spirit items. They will create sign-up lists for students to attend different sporting events and to sell spirit items at these events. They will also be responsible for selling game day t-shirts.
Article XIII: Ratification
1. Every year, after the completion of Student Body and Class Elections, and before the seniors’ graduation, the Student Council Charter shall be presented by the current Student Body Vice President to the future Executive Council for review and amendment.
2. All differences will be settled by compromise; otherwise a majority vote between the members of the Executive Council prevails.
3. The final product of the Student Council Constitution must be approved by 2/3 of the Executive Council, and must be approved by the current Advisor and Administration.
Article XIV: Amendment
1. The Constitution is reviewed and edited each year following new officer elections. In order to amend the Student Council Constitution after the fall semester has begun, a Student Council Member must make a movement and have at least two other classmates second that motion to bring the movement to the floor for debate. Support of four-fifths of the Student Council class is needed to amend the Constitution as well as approval from the Advisor and Administration of Apollo High School.
Article XV: Training
Section 1: Executive Council:
Executive Council must attend a training session or retreat exclusively for Executive Council with the advisor each year they are in the council (usually over the summer). 16 hours of training is required.
Section 2: All Student Council Members
All student council members must attend a mandatory teambuilding/training session yearly with the advisor (usually in the summer). Freshman officers have a separate training once they take office in the fall (usually on a Saturday) run by the Executive Council.
Article XVI: Impeachment or Removal From Office
To remove a student from office, a petition including reasons from this Constitution is required with at least twenty-five signatures from Student Council as well as a 7/8 vote of student council.
