Visual Arts

All Visual Art course offerings emphasize learning the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as specifically related to their content.

  • Art is offered throughout all four years including Art 1-2 and 3-4, Advanced Art, and Advanced Placement Art.  A variety of media is used including pencil, ink, watercolor, and paint.  Instruction focuses on color theory, perspective, lettering, design, drawing, and painting with skill refinement increasing throughout the continuum of the course(s).
     
  • Three-Dimensional Design offers students the opportunity to work with a variety of media including clay, wire, papier mache, soft sculpture, found objects, plaster, wood, metal or stone.  This course may be repeated for credit.
     
  • Photography 1-2 and 3-4 instructs students in photo-theory, lighting techniques, darkroom practices, display fundamentals and photo criticism through opportunities with picture taking, film processing and making enlargements.  Further exploration enables students to explore careers in which photography plays a prominent role.
